Volunteer

Volunteers are a major part of Bethlehem Centers and contribute valuable time and energy to helping us achieve our mission.  Opportunities to volunteer are available in both the programs and administrative areas.

Current Projects

Project: Shared Reading Program
Task:Work one-on-one with a child reading stories and sharing conversation.
Time: As little as 20 minutes to as long as 2 hours between the hours of 9am – 11:30am or 3pm – 4:30pm
Frequency: Volunteers can choose the day of the week (Monday – Friday) that they want to volunteer and frequency whether it’s once a week or bi-weekly

Project: Seniors- Special Interest
Task: Share special talents, knowledge and expertise, such as teaching activities and health issues and other resources for senior development. Provides opportunities for the senior population of the community to receive health screening, companionship and recreational activities.
Time: 11:00am – 12:30pm, Monday & Wednesday

Project: Seniors- Spanish Speaking Translator
Task: Translate information from English to Spanish such as BING, Health and Wellness and other resources.
Time: 11:00am – 12:30pm, Monday & Wednesday

Project: Meals on Wheels Driver
Task: drive your own vehicle to deliver lunches to the elderly and homebound in the North Nashville area
Time: 10:45am – 11:45am; this program operates Monday – Friday; volunteers can deliver lunches weekly, bi-weekly or once-a-month

Project: Adult Education Tutor
Task: tutor adults who are working on getting their GED
Time: 9am – 11am, Monday – Friday; volunteers can tutor anytime within the class timeframe

Project: After School- (Charlotte Avenue)
Task: Assist with teaching, tutoring and implementing after school program activities. Topics include physical education, recreation, self-esteem education, and social skills.
Time: 4:00pm – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday

Project: SYTS/STARS Club After-School
Task: Assist with teaching, tutoring, and implementing after school program activities. Topics include: Health and Fitness, Alcohol/Drug prevention education, mentoring and recreation, self-esteem education and social skills.
Time: 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Monday- Friday

Project: Customer Service/Greeter
Task: Greet customers and directs them to appropriate BCN services. Other duties may include light typing, filing, copying, sorting and shredding.
Time: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday- Friday

Project: Shopping Bag Thrift Store
Task: Greet customers and organize merchandise for showroom display. Sort and price merchandise as received.
Time: 10:00am – 3:00pm, Tuesday- Saturday

Project: Nashville Mobile Food Market
Task: Assist Mobile Market Food Staff. Provides security assistance while Nashville Mobile Food Market is operational at Bethlehem Center.
Time: 12:00pm – 2:00pm, Thursday

Project: Seniors- Dance Instructor for the Seniors
Task: Teach uncomplicated dance and movement to older adults.
Time: 11:00am – 12:30pm, Monday & Wednesday
